The Meon Valley Railway Part 3: Closure and Beyond
This is the final part of our own trilogy on the Meon Valley line. Taking as a starting point the last days of service in 1955, the subsequent freight service is described plus the abortive attempt at establishing a preservation centre at Droxford. Once more there is a fascinating collection of photographs - plus a few from earlier times which have been unearthed since Nos. 1 and 2 were produced. A fitting tribute to a line whose course is still very much apparent in the 21st century.
